Not bad at all! A few unwelcome changes but mostly very loyal to the book which was lovely to see. There’s a certain delicacy that is what I love most about the book given its story which I didn’t recognise in this (outside of Jacob Elordi) which is my main issue. Other than Jacob Elordi who is absolutely stellar, the storytelling and some performances feel a bit too cartoonish which drags down what I think at its best is a flawlessly humanist example of literature. Every scene that stems from the prologue was the best of the film in my opinion which gave it such a strong opening and closing. The costumes and set design are all impeccable throughout and never let down. The best of the movie is the creatures tale and is weakest unfortunately when Oscar Isaac (despite my love for him) and Christoph Waltz are discussing the buildup to the creation. Main takeaway is Jacob Elordi to play every role ever going forwards
