Obi-Wan Kenobi
Solid series with a few missed hits. Ewan McGregor shines once again as Obi-Wan and shows us a new, fragile side of his character.
After a strong two-episode premiere, Episodes 3 and 4 fell flat, adding very little to the character study of Obi-Wan. What was supposed to be a gripping tale of Obi-Wan coming to terms with Anakin’s revival quickly ignored that side of the story, focusing on needless action. In my opinion, these episodes added very little to the story.
Thankfully, Episode 6 brought the series back to life and ended on a decent note. We got more of Obi-Wan’s troubles with Anakin and Anakin’s desire to defeat Obi-Wan for good, and their fight was very well done. I think all stories wrapped up nicely, including Reva’s. Longtime Star Wars fans even got a couple moments to enjoy at the end of the episode.
Personally, I do not think the series needs to continue. I do not see much more to tell that does not involve the major players in Obi-Wan’s life (Vader, Luke, Leia). Any further story would diverge from the main storyline of Star Wars and would not add anything substantial.
