Probably my favourite porn film. I love the dreamlike atmosphere that pervades many of Jesùs Franco's films and here, especially in the sex scenes, it is very present. And I loved the social message that makes the film almost similar to one by Pasolini. To conclude, obviously the direction is perfect.
This is a translation of the italian review you can find on my diary, sorry for the grammar :/ This movie is perhaps one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. The plot is really kept to a minimum: a girl is dumped by her boyfriend and begins masturbating and then injuring herself and mutilating herself, but this plot is only a framework to show the girl's dream in which, after fainting, she continues her mutilation in a wide variety of ways. The key thing is not so much the plot actually but the photography, the soundtrack and the staging. The flashbacks are rendered with an eerie grayscale bordering on pixel art, while the dream instead turns the photograph into various colors that further enhance the surrealism of everything that happens. The soundtrack is amazing and was perhaps the thing I loved most about the film, it goes from absolute silence to minimal synthesizers to a chilling industrial, all always spot on for the moment and the pace of the film. And this is precisely where the film surprises, someone might expect a gore splatterpunk with lots of sexual elements, yet everything slowed down as if that moment had been lasting for a second that makes up all eternity. Each shot is in fact permeated by an extreme melancholy that inevitably enhances every act of self-harm that the protagonist inflicts on herself, revealing its depressive matrix in her extreme solitude. In conclusion, the film really disturbed me, so much so that towards the end I feared I had been contaminated by the videodrome. Long live the new flesh!
A good classic porn movie. I love how the director created a pop version of hell where even Satan wants you to have fun. Bonus point: the ending, a reference to Sartre's philosophy (I really didn't expect such depth in a porn).
A film that creates a discourse around voyeurism and the intersection of porn and politics (the scene in which the sentence on pornography is read is beautiful). It also seems to be, thanks to the final twist, a manifesto for a certain type of sexual freedom. The film still manages to be a good comedy!
A film that mixes porn and horror very well! The direction in the horror and dream sections is wonderful (especially the intro and the finale). The leading lady is very good, and her character is well written. The most incredible thing about the film, however, I think is the representation of hell that we see in the ending, surreal and disturbing.
A porn in every sense with an experimental mise en scène! The plot does not exist, and not like in a modern porn video, it does not exist in the sense that it is totally grotesque and surreal but at the same time manages to give some strange suggestions. The highlight is obviously the scene of ejaculation that with a photo and direction absurd seems to become a pop-art film by Warhol.
The plot is not that interesting. But what I appreciated the most is the “pop” aesthetic of some of the settings, which stand out thanks to the good direction.
The songs are beautiful! I loved: 1) the songs, 2) the plot and development (which makes sense and doesn't sacrifice it for sex scenes), 3) the totally absurd and surreal atmosphere that makes this film one of the best adaptations of Alice in Wonderland.
The film has no plot, the only reasons to watch it (besides porn) are aesthetics and music. The soundtrack is great and in general the film is a montage of sex scenes with music and new wave aesthetics from the 80s. I like both music and aesthetics so I appreciated it.
Another funny porn comedy. + there is John Holmes. He's very famous and an italian band (called "Elio e le storie tese") dedicated a song to him. So i wanted to se one of his movies, and it's not so bad
It's a funny porn comedy. I especially loved the Swedish setting along with the direction. The gags are all very funny and it's a good movie overall.
