RIPLEY
pretty conflicted about this one..
pros
- cinematography was perfect. every shot could’ve been a painting
- black and white noir filter
- the setting in several italian cities + retro vibe
- supporting cast was awesome
- slow pacing was executed well but definitely not for everyone
- caravaggio glaze warranted
cons
- wasn’t convinced by tom’s character at all. too old and awkward
- insane plot armor made the investigation feel pointless + detective ravini is somehow intelligent and brain dead at the same time
- water, stairs, ashtray, and other motifs were excessively spammed to the point their significance was cheapened
