Adolescence
phenomenal acting by that kid honestly, i have to say tho I don’t think they actually tackled the topic that well and honestly four episodes is too short to go in depth about the rise in misogyny in men and lowkey sometimes it felt like they were dragging it out but yea. another thing that kinda sucks is the focus of it being the perpetrator and not the victim, the victim was easily ignored by the series (ironic considering what the female officer said about people forgetting the victim). the framing of the girl to be “a bully” fucking sucks too, it makes it feel like the series is trying to shift part of the blame to her. i know that there is no such thing as a “perfect victim” but it’s kinda disgusting how they frame katie (yes im aware that this is from his perspective but by only showing his perspective the series is (whether intentionally or not) showing this) they also say things without exploring them, like okay you mentioned andrew tate, instagram models and everything but when are you going to explore why and how that affects young men? they touch on nudes and non-con sharing of nudes but they don’t even touch on the horrifying aspect of this? it just feels too surface level. despite all my criticism for this i do think it was still decent from a cinematography angle, highlight of this was ep 3. idk how to express my feelings and others probably can articulate what I feel in a more sensible and meaningful way than I did
