Monster

I want to hug these kids so bad !!! « Monster » is a masterfully crafted movie. In this narrative, there are no tangible monsters : each character, despite the initial misconceptions one might have about them, reveal themselves as vessels of shared human experience. By cutting things up and showing us fractured perspectives, Kore-eda demonstrates that compassion is more than a mere state of being, it’s a process that requires constant expansion of one’s field of vision. This is a beautiful and sensitive work, a humanist call for empathy.
