Inside Out
watching the second one on premiere night tomorrow so i need to prepare !
the core memory of baby riley looking at her parents is kinda crazy bc who remembers anything from being a literal newborn
the parents emotions are so fucking funny …..him watching tv was so good and the mom thinking about the hot brazilian pilot
it’s so cheesy but pixar just knows what they’re doing !
and the imagination island tv set is SO good and creative i absolutely loved that and i remember that being one of my favorite parts as a child and it still is today !
fear being like damn she’s a bad actress got me ROLLINNGGG like not him fucking clocking her like that
now in all seriousness…
now that i’m older im realizing so many things that didn’t hit me my first time watching this as a pre-teen
this movie is just such a great portrayal of mental health for kids
the scene of sadness comforting bing bong is such a good representation of how u can find comfort in letting yourself feel sad and how u need a good cry to move past a blip of disappointment and how u can help ur loved ones by just matching their mood instead of trying to immediately cheer them up like joy attempted
speaking of bing bong.. the SECOND that mf hit the screen my throat tightened bc i already knew what was coming
joy falling in the pit of lost feelings is a great representation of how in that moment riley forgot what happiness felt like because she was so consumed in her depression and intrusive thought about moving and hating everything
also the whole realization joy had about how you can’t always be happy all the time and how you need to feel sadness sometimes is so important for kids to see
the whole intrusive thought of moving away is so fucking good and undoubtedly the best and most moving important part of the movie as they definitely aimed it to be
AND literally “STICKING” a thought into her head….and then disgust saying they need to “get this idea out of her head” …
and then the emotions loosing control of making her feel anything because she’s just in a state of pure numbness and is so dead set on her plan
brilliant brilliant brilliant
and then sadness touching the idea of running away to make her realize she’ll feel sad if she does :(
& sadness finishing it off by touching the one button to trigger the crying and letting riley be vulnerable with her parents and really sending off the idea that sadness is a very important
and that memory being half happy and half sad because there’s both a happy and sad side to moments like that and making it known that feeling sad is just as important as feeling joy
just a gorgeous and brilliant and amazing film in every way
in my pixar top 3 and i wholeheartedly mean that this is the first movie that has made me want to cry and laugh back to back
