Hamnet
Wow.
As someone who read the book six years ago (shameless brag), I was so excited when they announced they were adapting the book into a film. And I was not disappointed.
Where to even begin.
Jessie Buckley was insane, the scene of her giving birth in the woods has changed me forever. She is truly a once in a generation actress.
Paul Mescal felt like the perfect Shakespeare for me. A lot of recent adaptations only discuss his flaws as a man. And while he had many, I loved that the book and now the film recognise his faults but also his love for his family and his wife.
Those kids man. Oh my days. Speechless at how powerful they all were.
Joe Alwyn, you know I love you no matter what. But bias aside, I thought he did a good and honest performance.
Emily Watson, big up DSL!! Queen always.
I hope this film gets more people talking about Shakespeare who normally switch off to his work. I’ve seen a lot of reviews of people loving Hamlet now which is amazing! Shakespeare geeks unite x
Finally, the final scene where Hathaway sees that her son will be remembered for years to come. No words. Hand over all the Oscars or else I will do a Will Smith slap.
My only criticism if you will, is in the book they never say his full name. He is a father and a husband not the famous playwright.
