The Creator
Would you watch a movie that has the Cinematographer who did Dune 1 and 2 and The Batman, the Editor who did Dune, 12 Years a Slave and Sicario, music by Hans Zimmer, and the Director of Rogue One? Well this is it.
Conceptually really bold and an absolutely gorgeous looking movie. A lot of the criticism of this film is around the things it could have been. A tighter script maybe would have helped but it already has a lot going on and whatever it does have it shows it with the most powerful visuals that drag you into this world that’s familiar and foreign and strange and oh so colourful.
The vision of the future here is so potent and grounded that it almost feels like this really is what the future may turn out to be. The scenes of the robots feeding their kids, commuting on their bikes, just being are such a visceral glimpse into an unknown tomorrow.
I don’t think this movie deserves any of the hate or nose snubbing it gets. I really see it up there in the hall of fame of sci fi bangers and I’m dying on that hill. When the original Bladerunner came out, it too was perceived as a mediocre flick that didn’t make enough at the box office to recoup its cost. And now it’s a classic. This movie is gonna age like fine wine just like that one.
