Interstellar
This is easily Nolan’s best film. From beginning to end I was in shock and absolute awe. The creativity of this man is astounding. Also Mathew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway had amazing acting performances. The way Nolan connects his story is one for the history books. This guy is phenomenal. But I don’t see him making a movie better than this one.
Story
Overall the story is about astronauts trying to find a new planet since the Earth is in the brink of collapse. But Cooper’s journey throughout the movie and him realizing who sent him the message at the end is honestly one of the best things you can ever see. When I was going through the scene of him watching his children grow up while he still looks the same was one of the most heartbreaking things you can watch in a movie and I was fighting tears the entire time.
**Themes
** Watching this movie during these times were really interesting. Especially with Covid and the climate crisis. This movie hits very differently and it’s not a stretch to say that we might have to do what this movie is suggesting in the next 50-150 years if we don’t change the way we treat this planet. I don’t understand how we see all of this damage happening to this planet and yet we don’t try to do anything to mitigate it. It’s crazy.
Another theme in this movie is family. Like I previously mentioned we have to see Cooper watch all of his kids grow up, while he still looks the same and it was absolutely heartbreaking having to watch the son slowly lose hope I’m his father, because early on he had faith. Watching him give up was so sad, and I fought tears the entire time while watching. This theme is so powerful because the daughter never loses hope and is finally able to see her father even if it means seeing him on her deathbed. This movie has so much more powerful themes but if I kept on going it will be too long so I’m ending it here.
Overall one of the greatest films I have ever seen.
An easy 10/10.
Watch if you haven't yet.
