Sinners

This might be my favorite movie of the year (so far). 2 Micheal B Jordan’s. Immaculate. An incredible and beautifully shot blend of historical drama and balls to the walls vampire horror-action flick, with soulful music (divine, like, next level) and social critique framing and seeping into the whole thing. Sounds like a lot, and it is, but boy did Ryan Coogler make it work. Almost cried at the scene where music summed ancestors, from the past and the future. Special shoutout to Wunmi Mosaku for her grounded and badass performance. Saw this in iMax and got to watch the aspect ratio change when it came to the Big Fight. All shot on real film. Love love love This is what we need: original movies, original ideas, and new actors coming to light (Miles Canton I’m looking at you).
