Superbad
Listen, in some ways this movie aged horribly (it’s problematic in lotttts of scenes), but in some ways it’s aged like a fine wine. The shitty/weird/sexual things these teenagers say, could have been said in the halls of my high school, or any high school, at any point in history.
So, I loved this movie actually. It is so deeply funny, but part of what makes it so funny is that it’s so truthful. Teenagers are shitty edgelords. Teenagers are deeply confused/fascinated by/obsessed with sex, and it takes up so much space in their hormonal brains. There is a forever fear of being left behind as you exit the place that brought you your childhood, and sometimes you go places your friends can’t follow.
Also: teenage white boys are losers.
This script is so fucking good that it makes me mad a little. The person who came up with “McLovin” is a genius. One of the best bits to ever bit.
Also this is one of the most accurate depiction of cops put to screen.
But yeah, this movie is one of the funniest depictions of the horror movie that is adolescence I’ve ever seen.
Fuck it, 5/5.
