Heretic
everyone pack up, go home, religious horror will never be done as wellnas this ever again
at no point in this movie was a belief or religion made a point of terror or something to be scared of, the human mind was. the act and concept of belief, not believing, or making others believe is the true horror of this, and finding your own personal identity through it all is the beauty of it. weirdly hopeless and hopeful all at once with some beautiful shots and Amazingly intellectually challenging characters and dialogue that was performed with so much talent
hugh grant made mr reed so terrifyingly real in a way i cant even begin to explain. i swear ive met a creep like him thats tried to lord his intelligence over me, and another person like him that taught me RE. his casual jokey lines were so uncomfortably funny and towards the end the small spiral of being caught out, of losing the control hes made his own religion of, the horror of his own where, in his last moments, he has to reconcile with being at the mercy of someone elses decisions as well as the mercy of no ones but fate.
lots to think about, lots to ruminate on, but so much to enjoy as well. i adored this and how much i feel ive learned from it. i also thought the sound and music was really the cherry on top of all of this and made every moment that much more
