Eddington
I get it, the world sucks and people suck, but I didn’t need a movie telling me that when it’s literally the current world we are living in.
This didn’t feel like it offered a new/beneficial/interesting point of view on any of the ideas it presented (of which there are many). I want to say this was too soon for the subject matter to have its full value, but I’m curious if it would ever feel like the right time as I’m sure it will start to feel more and more irrelevant and too late quickly, so the window for something like this feels small.
I didn’t really emphasize with or gravitate towards a single character. That isn’t an issue of the actors who all do pretty outstanding work in this, it’s an issue of both sides of every issue being just the worst person you know.
What am I supposed to gain from watching this?
Am I supposed to learn something? Gain a new perspective? Because I feel like I must be missing some value here. He wanted to convey what the world was like in 2020, but why? The world of 2020 has been conveyed to me plenty in the last 5 years, in the real world. I don’t need a mirror or a reminder of what is literally happening right now.
God damn that run time is noticeable
