Babylon
Honestly when I watched Babylon and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood I felt like both movies were love letters to Hollywood and to cinema but each one in a different way. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood feels soft and warm and nostalgic. It’s like Tarantino is remembering an old world he’s in love with. The studios, the actors, the whole 60s vibe. It feels gentle and calm, almost like he’s saying thank you to the Hollywood that shaped his imagination.
Babylon is the opposite. It’s chaotic and wild and a little crazy, but it feels real. It shows the dark side of Hollywood, how people lose themselves or burn out just to leave a mark. But even inside all that mess you still feel this huge love for cinema. It’s like saying yes this world is insane but it’s also beautiful and magical and worth everything.
For me both films show love for Hollywood, just from two different hearts. One is dreamy, the other is intense. One is soft, the other is loud. And that mix is what makes both films unforgettable to me.
