Squid Game
I feel like it’s cheating to put miniserieses on Letterboxd… especially since many of them end up turning into actual shows like this one. But I’m gonna count it just this one time because why not.
Anyway, I finally got around to watching Squid Game in preparation for season 2, and I’m not entirely sure why I didn’t watch it sooner. Such an epic drama/game show, two genres that don’t normally clash, but I was happy when they did nevertheless. Episode 6 completely broke me. Lee Jung-Jae was great as Gi-Hun, my man started off so cheerful about the games and ended up a scarred man, especially after the start of episode 9 (not trying to do spoilers but ifkyk).
A piece of art that could rival Parasite as my favorite South Korean movie/tv show (which isn’t really fair because I’ve only seen the two), but I think Parasite gets the edge ever so slightly. Still an incredible show, although I’m a little worried for season two. What, it’s just the games again? I guess we’ll have to see…
