Get Out
i think everyone already knows how well made and crafted this movie is but some little things i noticed:
-the reason why it is so unexpected that rose is apart of the vile project is because peele makes it easy for the audience to sympathize with and like her. the first opening shot we get of her is her face brightly lit looking at pastries, almost child-like quality already attached to her. next scene we get is her playing with chris’ dog and everyone knows good people pet puppies, villains kill them. and it is especially interesting to see her switch in character after the scheme is revealed, she is only wearing white with slick backed hair and eats cereal separate from milk i mean come on. also interesting to note her costuming in the gathering with all the white people and how she is dressed in the same colors as the others, red black and white, symbolizing the kkk and white supremacy groups.
-peeles amazing cinematography, flashbacks to when chris was a kid and sitting in front of the tv and comparing that with being in the sunken place is phenomenal. also his uncanny symmetry and perfection mimics stanley kubricks techniques when chris is locked up in the basement.
-the symbolism of the deer, how rose's father explained how he would rather have less of them and loves to shoot them. almost enacts his views toward black people. at the beginning, on the way to the house rose literally hits a deer and chris is for some reason drawn to it and photographs it. the next time we see a deer, chris is facing a beheaded deer on the wall almost as a trophy and foreshadows how he would end up if he didn't make it. i am not making in any way a connection towards black people and animals, i am only stating how rose and her father see the two alike and the various comparisons made with the two.
there are so many other intelligent aspects of this movie i could expand on but it is all in all perfect.
