Coraline

So deeply comforting. It might still be my most watched movie ever. Coraline has a je ne sais quoi that’s still difficult to quite capture with words. Masterful stop animation, terrific characters & set design, & a captivating feeling that oscillates between warmth & fright. Admittedly, it fizzles out a bit in the final act, save for the Beldam unraveling. I always find myself a bit bored as Coraline searches for the children’s souls. Total potty break material. But that’s really my only detractor after 50 or so viewings. It’s one of a kind & a movie very close to my heart.
