Lost Highway
That is sooo similar to Mulholland Drive but for me it’s a better version of it. So, as I did with MD I try to interpret the movie from what I understood (spoilers ‼️).
Okay, so at first we are introduced to the two main characters, Fred and Renee, a married couple. From what we know, Fred kills his wife and is sentenced to death by electric chair.
As he’s waiting for his sentence, he imagines his life as Pete, more of a masculine guy who easily attracts every girl. Later, we are introduced to Alice, who becomes his secret love affair.
After this whole long relationship with Alice, Lynch presents us with something similar to what was in Mulholland Drive like the collision of reality and dream. Suddenly, Pete turns back into Fred again, and Fred is just executed at the end. (I know I skipped a lot of important details, but this is just a short review).
I also wanted to say something about the Mystery Man. He’s like a ghost of Fred’s past life, he haunts and shows him true reality. That’s why Fred is trying to runaway from him, because he doesn’t want to face the truth.
And can we also mention how is soundtrack for this movie so packed😭
