1917
Peak cinema right here. Sam Mendes, where have you been?? I didn't expect to really love this film since I barely watch war or action films but enjoyed it alot. LOVE continuous shots and how it appears to be a one-shot, it definitely excels in immersiveness and the consistent intensity throughout the whole time. Absolutely love the casting, I was surprised to see Benedict Cumberatch and Richard Madden. Phenomenal sound design and soundtrack. It was amazing how everything builds up so well towards the end. The song that plays is just so relieving. I'm impressed how it's able to engage the viewer throughout the whole time, there wasn't any boring scenes since it was so continuous and entertaining. The action was really good, loved the scene where the main character was running and tripping over the other soldiers. The only thing I didn't like is how the extras died (mainly from the explosions); Like the main character doesn't die when he happens to be right near a grenade but 10 other soldiers do, it's literal main character plot armor. 1917 is a realistic, chaotic, engaging masterpiece that everyone should watch atleast once
