Braindead
This film just became my favourite horror movie of all time. This is EXACTLY what I look for in a comedy horror. I love slapstick comedy so Iv'e never seen it in a horror movie before besides Scary Movie but it doesn't compare to this. This is the only time where alot of gore is appropriate for me is when there's comedy put into it, and holy, this film overdone it. Braindead is more gorier than fucking Green Inferno (2013), The Sadness (2021), and Terrifier 3 (2024), in my opinion. Iv'e never seen so much blood that the whole house is literally flooded with it. I'm not gonna lie, I feel like they spent 1 million dollars on just blood and gore. Never have I ever gagged so badly for how disgusting this movie is (the pudding scene especially). The comedy was so quirky and action-packed that I didn't know whether to laugh or to be disgusted by the gore. I really liked the random camera zoom in shots on the characters, idk why, I just found it funny. I can't believe how much I relate to the main character about his relationship with his mother, this movie is literally made for me. The ending was nice and the story was very cute. It was super thrilling from start to finish. The practical effects were alright, expected for its time. It's crazy how the director of the movie directed The Hobbit, that's wild. This film just brings some sort of nostalgia that I had when watching these slapstick comedies. I liked the over-exaggeration of the characters, it complemented very well with how it's directed and how exaggerated the creature design on the zombies were. I personally think zombie movies are very overrated in the horror genre and preference wise, body horror is not my favourite in this film. I love the priest, he just jumps down and saves the main character by using taekwondo on the zombies. The chemistry between Lionel and Paquita were good. Paquita's latin accent just adds to the dramatic effect. The most goriest yet funniest movie Iv'e seen!!
