Jacob's Ladder
Why am I crying? wtf. That ending made me so sad but I really wish they had a alternative because I didn't want it to end it that way. Ugh, I hate plot-twists like this, it just made me feel worse about the movie but It also makes it more sadder. Like give me a happy ending, this shit is so depressing, even for a fucking horror movie. I fr want to take a antidepressant now. Sorry, I'm a Christian, and this shit about spiritual journey hurt my fuckin soul. Jacob, I happy for you bro but like, this is a no bueno for me. I was going to give this film a 5 star then when the plot-twist came, It just went down to a 1, so It was hard to rate this film. Jacob, your PTSD, just gave me PTSD, because those visions were scaring tf out of me. Your monsters suddenly became my monsters too. I love that this movie is about PTSD and purgatory, never seen a horror movie attack on those themes. This is genuinely the best quote Iv'e heard from a horror movie (as a very religious person) "Eckhart saw Hell too. He said: The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. So the way he sees it, if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth. It's just a matter of how you look at it, that's all. So don't worry, Okay?", this made me so sad for Jacob's fate because of the death of his son, love for his wife, and his massage therapist. Anyone would love to have the same massage therapist as Louie, he's willing to break in a psychiatric hospital to save you, that's a true homie right there. I'm quite impressed with the transitions, they were really good for it's time. The chemistry between Jacob and Jezzie were flawless. Btw, wtf is Kevin from Home Alone doing in here, and why is not credited? It's so interesting how this movie inspired Silent Hill, didn't expect that. Anyways, some of the visions felt too over-exaggerated, but it's a great example of "Hell" I guess. The dancing scene with the wife gave me a epileptic seizure with all the blue lights flickering. If they just changed the goddam ending then I would gave this a 5 star because I'm forever in denial with what I just witnessed. Overall, great movie, loved the acting, dialogue, transitions, characters & camera work. I'm going to complain to the writers about the ending now
