Kids
Oh no, this has become my guilty pleasure but I'm never gonna watch this shit again. Such a controversial film about teenage sex and everything else in it. Usually indie films get a free-bee for production value and directing, but this one is just so simple, it's good. I'm in love with the realism and how unafraid the portrayal of it's exploitation is willing to go all out. I sort of agree with New York Times calling it "an awakening for the world", like it is effective but it's definitely not an awakening. Yall, if I wasn't Christian, my life would've have been like this ong. OMGG CHLOE SEVIGNY LOOKS SO YOUNG IN THIS, SHE'S LOOKS LIKE SAOIRSE RONAN. Larry Clark, I don't judge you for making such a controversial film, but like, make more. I feel bad for that one guy that got beat up by like 20 people at once, that one dude that spat on him, it's disgusting. The last line being "what just happened" is me throughout the whole movie honestly. I was expecting the drama aspect to be more impactful for the storyline but I was wrong, it wasn't as significant as I thought. I'm confused how Jennie didn't stop them from having sex when she knew the guy had HIV?? Is she really that heart-broken. Those kids be too young to be smoking ngl, they look 10 years old. Props to the actors and actresses for agreeing to this controversial cinema and making it look so natural. I can't image myself in this position, that's just crazy. This lowkey might be my favourite indie film, I gotta switch it out quick because I know people will judge me for having this in my top 4!!! Kids is such a exploitative, realistic, innovative film that I'd only recommend to people has seen the worst of the worst
