Paprika
OMG WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED. This shit had me flabbergasted and astonished, I'm in shock. This is the first time my predictions happen to be accurate and correct in the film, like I'm actually the goat. I wanted to be the detective in this because it's one hell of a case. I didn't realize this was directed by Satoshi Kon then I felt a sudden "this gives me Perfect Blue vibes". I've never been so focused in a film before, I gotta watch more mysteries like this. I love the "dream or reality" concept, it complements well with the tension and psychological effect in the mystery. The motive of the antagonist was fitting and innovative with the idea of "dreams are the only man's sanctuary". I'm so happy that this film doesn't get as perverted as Perfect Blue (1997) because I can finally give it five stars. The story is so incredibly written, Kon is such a gifted director. When paprika was a fellow cinephile, I gasped. I got excited when they talked about the 180 degree rule. Is it just me or did I find it really obvious who Paprika actually was, it was literally in my face. Love characters like Tokita who are a genius on the outside but a child on the inside. Paprika is a unique, though-provoking, creative film that'll make you scared of dreaming
