Titane
Julia Ducournau is now my favorite French director, this film is a fucking masterpiece. I love Ducournau's artistic & disturbing vision which is the whole reason why I love independent films, this film shows it the best for me. After seeing Raw (2016), I've always been interested in what the director can bring more of that, Titane definitely succeeded. I usually hate body horror but this is probably the only one that I liked, mostly because it doesn't primarily focus on the body horror until one scene which is the best use of that sub-genre in my opinion. It's interesting how they used recurring names from Raw, it's like you know it's going to be a Julia Ducournau film. I liked the killing spree scene where happy music was playing, it was highly entertaining. Also, what the fuck was up with that car fetish, though it does makes sense as it does correlate with the opening scene. The ending was shocking, I did not expect that at all. It's fascinating how the message is portrayed in the most artistic way as it clears up more towards the end. I'm so happy that A24 is collaborating with Julia, I'm so excited on that upcoming film. Alpha (2025) might be my next watch lowkey. Titane is an artistic, erotic, deranged film that French people will be scared of
