Saving Private Ryan
Aside from being one of the most historically realistic war films ever made, what really hit me was the question it raises: Is one man worth the lives of many?
In one way, Ryan does deserve to be saved , he is the only son left alive, and sparing his mother from losing all her children feels like an act of humanity in the middle of war
But when you look at it from another angle, the men who died to save him also had mothers, families, and people waiting for them. That’s where the film truly hurts because it never gives you a clear answer
