Wild Strawberries
“I thought: That's his mother. An old woman, cold as ice, more forbidding than death. And this is her son, and there are light-years between them. He himself says he's a living corpse. And Evald is growing just as lonely, cold, and dead. And I thought of the baby inside me. All along the line, there's nothing but cold and death and loneliness. It must end somewhere.”
The generational impact of emotional detachment and the emotional gap between each lead to a character named Isak (whom im very interested in). He is always perceived as doing the right thing, even if it's not what is true to him. He speaks the most godlike words, but he does it out of obligation. Thats why i thought Sara is more into his brother because of the emptiness and lack of life in Isak, as his wife described him as 'cold as ice'.
Also, (ive mentioned this many times) i always love the close up shots to emphasize the characters emotional state, and the imagery like in that one dream sequence, when the clock has no hands but it has eyes, lol... powerful.
