Surprised by how good this was but it just wasn't needed and the story was meaningless

Definitely could have been cut to a shorter film as it did drag out and Kubrick was just flexing. Otherwise the pairing of visuals and intellectual questions that were prompted set the bar very high for the films after it

Doesn't have the same intensity of other Nolan films but the story and atmosphere was great. I knew the plot twist of Christian Bale's character and predicted Hugh Jackman's which I thought wasn't a very good twist so both of them made the films ending a bit less striking
