Obsession
to start it off, i’d like to say that it is a miracle i could see anything. why do you people not know where to sit. stop standing up. horrible theatre etiquette all around. stop laughing.
i really liked this. the attention to detail was INSANEEE. i was frowning at the ai usage, but stopped to think like hey cmon amy this movie doesn’t seem like the type. genius use omg. nikki being so proud of her writing. alexa play dust bowl by ethel cain but specifically “you’d be a writer, if he didn’t leave all his hell for you” although shout out to my tumblr oomf who first connected that lyric to ai use. obviously not its original meaning, as the events of willoughby tucker, i’ll always love you take place from 1986 to 1989, and i doubt willoughby tucker was asking chatgpt about his father. back to my point. the use of that ai photo was a good detail. could’ve left it at that.
such insane acting guys what the fuck! even the extras were great. obviously shoutout to micheal and inde, the actual leads tho. my first impression of this movie was someone on twitter saying “these new gens only finding micheal johnston through obsession, where were you when he was playing a gay morally grey chameleon twink on teen wolf” i said hey so what the actual fuck. if you’ve seen teen wolf, you know corey is probably the only one matching that description. i said how the FUCK does my sweet lil guy corey turn into a horror icon. there’s no way he can do it. but he did. i’m an og sir. don’t worry about me. i’m not one of these new gens. also inde you’re an amazing actor but my first impression of you was you saying your favourite song was nettles and that really pushed me over the edge tbh. such good body acting. it’s easy to deliver convincing lines, but she really puts her whole body into it.
incredible score, another contributing factor for why i watched this movie. i saw hayden silas anhëdonia herself compliment it and said well jesus it must be like the new testament of the bible if jesus herself is speaking so highly of it. i couldn’t actually hear much of it, but it sounded very nice and reminded me of radio towers, perverts, and willoughby’s interlude.
quick edit after looking through reviews: guys i know bear is evil but please stop saying micheal johnston looks like charlie kirk. he’s a nice man. not even in a ‘nice guy’ way.
