Bones and All
*"You wanna be people? Let's be people."
*"Yeah, let's be them for a while."
i felt queasy throughout this entire movie, which i guess helps deliver the message more effectively. i doubt you could live like this without an uneasy feeling constantly sitting in your stomach. or in this case the feeling would be human remains lol
there's something about maren learning about her mother that cut really deep. her struggle with her tendencies being addressed when she met her mom felt like getting doused in cold water because yikes, it really does feel like that when you realize why you are the way you are— because of what runs in your blood (better yet, whose blood runs in your veins.)
it felt relieving seeing maren and lee deciding to stay together and "be people". i guess it was reassuring to me because they deserve that too, like everyone else, no matter what "it" was that was passed down to them. they figured it out, but i guess they only really did for a while.
it was unfortunate that they never got to live out the life they wanted, though i don't think there would have been a better way for either of them to go. there really was nothing sweeter than offering yourself to your partner as the last act of love.
i still feel sick ethel cain strangers style so i would not watch again, but it was great. probably one of the best and most profound love stories out there.
