Stand by Me
"I just wish I could go someplace where nobody knew me."
I love this movie. Sincerely.
Rob Reiner was a certified G. It's a beautiful movie about a kid, Gordon, looking for reason after his brother's death, and another, Chris, chasing individuality. Chris does create his own identity, despite the reputation his family left for him, but in the end is left a victim of his own instincts. Gordon becomes everything Chris wanted him to be; a great, successful writer, and a good father to his 2 sons. This movie shows the fragility of friendship, how 4 of the closest friends can drift apart so easily, not even knowing these would be their last moments together. It brought me to the verge of tears too many times to count, I couldn't even explain what this movie made me feel. The definitive coming of age film.
