Disclosure Day is Steven Spielberg's latest sci-fi film. The story follows a cybersecurity expert who uncovers a cover up involving extraterrestrial life, while a meteorologist becomes mysteriously linked to the alien phenomenon after transmitting a strange signal on live television. Disclosure Day is a film that wants to say so much but ultimately ends up empty and dull. It definitely touches on some important themes, but somehow manages to leave you with nothing. The biggest problem is the story and the screenplay: the dialogue feels cringe at times, the morally grey villain is such a flat character, and then he just gives up at the end. I liked the ending scene, but it leaves so many things open, and the build-up to it was just too messy. A two-and-a-half-hour movie can't be saved by its ending alone. The alien design is also something I'm not a particular fan of, they really could've done something different or more unique. Overall the movie isn't entirely bad, but it's just boring, which is worse 😔.
