There Will Be Blood
I can see the portrayal of capitalism vs religion and how they manipulate people in different ways to gain an edge in power. Plainview, even though he is a wealthy man. Someone whom you'd expect to chase money because of his greed, when in reality he is chasing solidarity and peace. Wanting to achieve more just because he likes seeing others fail creating a level of competition as if he's just playing around with the other wealthy men. However he still uses his wealth as a instrument of power, giving out money like it's nothing and exploiting the members of society because they lack the knowledge to go against him.
Whereas, Sunday uses religion as if it were a business showing how easily corruptable he is. At the end of the movie, you can see he displays greed begging money from Plainview. Saying things he wouldn't usually just to get what he wants. Meaning the roles have been switched resulting in capitalism (Plainview) being shown to belittle religion and dominating further modern society, as shown through time shifts that he has become more and more powerful. Reflecting massively on present society. BOOM
The acting was superb in this film and Daniel day-lewis for sure earnt himself that Oscar.
