i don’t think i’ll ever get over this movie! the dreamy animation, the soundtrack and score, the way the plot feels elusive and just out of reach yet somehow ties everything together so beautifully. just like how the cords represent the way time loops, tangles, and connects across timelines. ughhhhh it’s all so masterfully done. i love how taki’s and mitsuha’s connection goes deeper than just a romantic love, it’s framed as though they are like cosmic soulmates of sorts. the way they long for that connection throughout the film, the constant back and forth of forgetting yet still trying to hold on, to keep each other alive in more ways than one like cmon!! this movie has such a hold on me after 8 years, shoutout to my cousins from pakistan showing me this movie at like 2am on a busy night in karachi. i still need to watch suzume but maybe will rewatch weathering with you first.
