Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

let me just preface by saying i hate anime… so whenever i end up liking an anime it makes it that much more special for me— this was not the case….. i was expecting cowboy bebop ghost in the shell experience and i got my hero academia reskinned to fit cyberpunk universe. god it was fucking awful full of stupid tropes and paced awfully as hell with almost no emotional beats. this is cyberpunk i want my characters to be cool and full of nuance in a dark unforgiving world. but david is a stubborn 12 year old  self insert character with the weakest 1 dimensional motivation. WHEN HE RANDOMLY GOT SO JACKED AND STARTED LIVING IN A MANSION AND LUCY GOT BIGGER BREASTS 😭😭😭😭 that’s something a 10 year old boy probably thinks is soooo fucking awesome it was insulting to me as a viewer and honestly disrespectful to the actually well written narrative and world of the cyperpunk game. cyberpunk is just meant to be viewed in a noir inspired lens in my opinion the shonen angle was just revolting. sorry and it sucks that the music and animation was so good but the song “i really want to stay at your house” stands on its own and doesn’t need this shit show to actually be good and i argue actually carries the whole fucking  show on its own.
