Adolescence
Very intrigued after the first episode, but it went downhill from there for me.
A lot of vague mentions about incels and Andrew Tate that supposedly led to the kid murdering someone, but I don’t think that side of it was explored nearly enough to add anything that valuable.
Maybe I’m missing the point here but I don’t give a fuck about seeing the dad crying for damn near a quarter of the whole series. Episode 4 definitely has aspects that are important for the show with showing how differently Jamie treats his dad from even his mom and sister, but including this and mostly ignoring the victim and the incel bullshit was a huge miss for me.
People with a brain already know how unjustifiable what Jamie did was, but I really don’t like how the show almost seems to focus more on the “bullying” that Katie did than how much of a loser Jamie is. I don’t know the intentions behind it but I think there are gonna be some people out there that use that “bullying” to make Jamie’s actions seem more viable when he’s truly just a disgusting person.
Overall I think the one shot stuff is kinda cool, and the episodes had my attention but I just don’t agree with some of the messaging.
