denzel’s once in a generation performance is rightfully lauded for its brilliance, but this film as a whole does not get enough credit for being one of the greatest american films ever made. a film that dares to focus on the intellectual and spiritual rather than the tawdry or the wikipedia bullets—undoubtedly one of the great achievements in cinematic history.
