Hamnet
why the fuck did you just twist the knife?
this is so powerful and heart wrenching. i still can’t get over the cinematography, the colours, the lighting, the sound, everything about this film and how it was created is so precise and meaningful that I cried more from the beauty of how it’s filmed than from the story itself. what absolutely destroyed me was the performance scene, the acting was incredible (as it is consistently throughout the film) but especially from Noah Jupe and the parallels that uncovered so much about Will’s character. I’ve noticed that in Stratford, the story is told from Agnes’ perspective and shows her thoughts and worries, and in London we finally get to understand William’s emotional journey and how he navigated the loss of his son. What made this even more powerful and striking is that Hamnet and Hamlet (on stage) are played by real-life brothers. This adds so much depth to this film as a piece of art, and arguably makes such an impactful statement within the story. i think the ending will play in my head for a long time and trust me i will be rewatching this masterpiece again.
