Spider-Man 2
I don’t think many people grasp the fact that this movie is basically a moving comic book. The directing and framing of the shots is like reading illustrated comic book panels. The weird choices for the seemingly stiff acting make sense if you view the film as if you are reading volumes of comics. The way different sequences are laid out is reminiscent of sitting on the floor of a comic book store and reading the whole run of comics. I see a lot of people rag on this movie for being odd and stilted when that is done on purpose to enhance the Action Comics feeling. The color grading is identical to comics from the 60s where they really only had red, yellow, green, blue, white, and black and had to limit colorful pages because they were expensive to print. I need to watch this film again to actually absorb the story instead of being amazed by the way it’s created.
