Entry 1 - 3/4/26 Relevant topic, depicts abortion as a horror and the vulnerability of youth as something fragile and destructive. Good for what it is and what it presents. 6.75/10
Entry 2 - 4/4/26 Boring, pale and sloppy in it's execution of a decent montage of anti racism. Good performances from the cast, some camerawork cliches were overused causing them to have punch value loss rather than actual immersiveness. Not garbage. 5/10
Entry 3 - 6/5/26 First Kubrick and it's a cinematic masterpiece. It's actually insane that this was shot over 50 years ago. Almost every scene is something to be framed as a 18th century painting. Phenomenal in it's execution as a candlelit realism-gilded caged film as it travels throughout the journey of the mc. 10/10
Entry 4 - 27/5/26 Brazilian film, I don't really feel connected with it, the pacing was weird and off putting. I enjoyed bits, definitely memorable but overall lacks in every aspect from style to substance. I also didn't understand the humour. 3/10
Entry 5 - 16/6/26 Brilliant movie and a cult classic. First thing, Pacino's performance was phenomenal here, one of the greatest I've ever seen. The screenplay tracked the gradual moral and psychological decay of Tony which serves as an allegory to the extremes of freedom, America is presented as as the land of the free in juxtaposition to Cuba's communist authoritarian land, for someone like Tony who lived through the cages of a restrained environment, freedom is symmetric to absence of restriction. But what happens when that very freedom, fueled by ambition, desire and greed is allowed to expand without any restraints? The narrative critiques that very American dream by showing what happens when you take in everything, you're eventually destined to fall. 9.75/10
