Gothic Cinema

When I started watching Gothic Films I expected to see philosophical, political, and aesthetically compelling works that resisted the system. But i was shocked by the how many of gothic films filled w misogyny, liberalism, dark romance written by men in the worst possible way, and acceptance of the system the goths were fighting against on the first place. I WAS MAD I saw how the deep culture of goth that was being exploited by the public in a horrible way. The culture that was supposed to be terrifying had become a ridiculous aesthetic. We shouldn’t admire Goth films for their consumerism aesthetics, I believed n i still believe that we should admire Goth films for the questions they raise n the scenes they depict that make the viewer feel uncomfortable not simply admire them. That's why I worked on this collection of films. I was looking for Gothic films that didn't contain misogyny, like excessive nudity and poorly written female characters. I wanted films with a deep story that would leave you pondering many questions after the film ended, and also enjoyable, well-written films. There are a few films I included that might contain some misogyny from my perspective; i had to add them bc they have good story writing, also we live in a patriarchal system, and it's impossible to find a film that's completely free of this kind of thing. But I promise you that what's in this collection is the best I could find. Finally, the opinions I've expressed are subjective, and I don't mind if you disagree with me, but I created this list for people who share my viewpoints because I haven't seen anyone else do it.
