“he’s just a kid, no older than my son” OWWW🥲 an example of how perfect cinema can be! the train scene alone i mean wow, i love the city!! MJ & Pete in the giant web! the reveals to everyone! the fire! aunt may! harry! otto the mad scientist! so insane i could watch 50 of these (and luckily there are!)

my god was this a blast!!! i wish new york was real so scooby doo! such a perfect pace & length which is a huge compliment. i’m hooked! need to know what happens to my girl spider-man

holy shit decided i wanted to enter the avengers/dc cinematic universe & started here …. was so devastating it made my chest hurt!! Joaquin phoenix acted tf out of this also very humbling, sometimes i act like that in public i mean come on i make myself laugh!!

wow. one of the hardest watches of my life. i do have two differing opinions tho… on one hand, movies that depict the atrocities of our past are so incredibly important and necessary to ensure we never forget and never repeat what happened. the performances were heartbreaking and incredible. i felt physically ill watching this and i think people need to understand the depth of the trauma and horrors faced during slavery. however, i do think there’s a thin line between showcasing history and shedding a spotlight on untold stories versus making a movie that showcases violence for violence sake. when so many real accounts of slavery have been misconstrued and lost to time and other factors, it becomes incredibly difficult to make an honest and factual story. this was not steve mcqueen’s story to tell, and it feels like he was capitalizing on trauma for an oscar nomination, especially on his comments about feeling bad for Epps because he was a victim of the time period, the white slave owner…. and i wish he had developed solomon, patsy, and the other black characters more and showed their true resilience and spirit as many accounts of the era have shown us to be true. instead he focused on tensions between mr & mrs epps, and fitting in long scenes of abuse. also having brad pitt swoop in as a white savior and save solomon was ridiculous and really gross tbh. i understand that may have been what happened but rushing the ending and not including any of the trial or justice pieces but instead just adding them as text at the end was..a choice! i think this could have been done in a more respectful and impactful way that did not highlight the violence of the time as much but more the strength, perseverance & complexities of slavery.
