The Avengers

I haven’t watched this film in 7 years and I was unsure whether my glowing opinion of it would have changed in all this time. Honestly… it held up, it held up really well.   “You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you.” I expected the memes to have worn off the film and age it, but surprisingly I still laughed along. It was like a Revenge of the Sith watch where you quote half of the lines with the characters.  The CGI was really good and unbelievably better than some of Marvel’s more recent projects cough Quantumania cough. I think the directing was interesting, especially during the mid film argument - which was easily my favourite part of the film.  12 year old Aparna would not have believed 22 year old Aparna when she said she preferred watching Tony and Steve argue over than third act battle (which was still a lot of fun).  Whilst we may be living through the negative aftermath of the Avengers films and the MCU-ification of cinema, these films were undeniably good. [I’m definitely going to rewatch Infinity War and Endgame tomorrow. Sorry Age of Ultron.]
