The title of this movie comes from the myth that “bees could spontaneously generate from the carcass of an ox killed without any blood spilled.” This gives the film a deeper meaning, since the ritual reflects the idea that, I quote : “new life can arise from the ashes of something corrupt.”
A wonderful movie made about how humanity always finds a way to self - destruct and I'm also pointing out to the scene where they are at the table eating spaghetti and they're having the fight over Teddy's belief that andromedans are harming the bees when Michelle thinks otherwise.
The movie portrays Teddy as a paranoid and unstable character, especially since he’s revealed to have a traumatic past involving family deaths and childhood assault. That added a really bad light on his character since his ideas seemed more like a coping mechanism to me and I was really conflicted on which side to choose. They indeed did a great job since they wanted us to believe that Michelle isn't an andromedan.
The acting was astonishing from all the main actors and honestly, to see this film at the cinema, was probably the best experience ever cause the visuals were something to die for.
Overall, This movie did an amazing job in exploring themes of self-destruction, seen in moments like Don’s suicide or when Teddy kills his mother (and even symbolically when he unleashes his bees on the policeman). It also shows how hard it is to fall into manipulation, especially when you’re convinced your research has made you immune to it (until he wasn't since he became too weak, probably as I said before because of past problems in his life)
+The soft launch that she's a lesbian at the start tho
