Logan
Oh well i cried
Logan is without a doubt the darkest X men film i've seen and probably the most mature. It's an unusual superhero film but is it a bad thing ? No, it's refreshing in my opinion.
For starters the fight scenes are more violent, dirtier and felt more impactful for the characters especially Wolverine.
But Logan has also a lot of emotionnal and deep moments which makes it devastating to watch. There has been plenty of films that centered around the psychology of Logan/Wolverine but this one is definitely the best to me. I loved the way Logan tackles the immortality of its main character and how it affects him. The Wolverine (2013) did talk about this theme but i remember being disappointed because it felt brushed off so i'm glad that Logan took the time to develop it more. You can clearly tell that it was written with care.
Even though the main bond is between Logan and Laura we still get to see the dynamic between Charles Xavier and Logan, already seen in the previous films. Both of this dynamic are compelling, very well written and were ended beautifully and perfectly (even though it was devastating to watch).
Obviously Hugh Jackman was perfect for the role of Wolverine and brought emotionnal depht to his character. What a pleasure to see Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier even though his character has changed and is no longer the leader of the X men. Dafne Keen was a phenomenal child actor and despite having a few lines she still managed to express plenty of emotions through her eyes. Shout-out to Boyd Holbrook for being a charismatic villain.
And last but not least the pacing was handled so well that i didn't feel any lenghty parts during the whole film.
Truly a perfect film.
