RIPLEY
So i still did not watch the movie about Tom Ripley made previously to this and i didn't read the book so i can't really said if it's a faithful adaptation or not.
Ripley as a show is very beautiful to look at thanks to its goergous blak and white cinematography. But it also adds a sort of myterious and ambiguous ambiance just like its main character.
Speaking of Tom Ripley i think the show does a great job at presenting his own psychology and ways of thinking, at presenting his manipulative tendencies.
But it could not have been done without Andrew Scott's performance. He was absolutly perfect as Ripley and completly stole the show for me. From his facial expression to his body language to his work on voices, it was perfect.
While i did enjoy all of those aspects, something was missing in order to be a 4 stars, though it's still a strong 3.5 stars for me.
I think my issues with this show come mainly because of the pacing. I have to admit there was a lot of time in each episodes where it was just...boring i guess. I would say a lot of times nothing really happenned and it just did not captivate me enough. Don't get me wrong there's a lot of scenes fuelled with tension and i was completly hooked and i guess the writters wanted the show to be slow in order to set up everything properly and i understand that but it was probably way too slow at times.
Anyways it was still a great watch and i definitly would recommand it cause i think this show deserves more attention then it got.
