Squid Game
The show started strong with a pretty amazing first season. One of my favourite aspects about season 1 was the characters, i felt like everyone had a certain depth and substance with good characterizations. I don't think every characters were incredibly complex but there was still some of them that truly stand out to me from a writing pov like Cho Sang Woo for exemple.
Gi hun had a solid character arc throughout the show even though i felt like his development started to drop in quality when the final season arrived.
To me the first season will remain the best just in terms of not only writing but tension, pacing and story.
I felt like this first season was somehow the most well handled in a lot of aspects.
Honestly i don't know and i doubt that the director of the show thought of doing other seasons when season 1 was being made.
Despite season 2 being not as strong as season 1 (in my opinion of course) i still think the story had its moments, and this is a solid second season. Though i found the pacing a bit slow it still managed to be enjoyable and entertaining. The new characters are not as memorable as season 1 characters for me. But the fact that the frontman is more present was a great addition to the story because he's a compelling character and was already intriguing in the first season despite his little amount of screen time.
The third season ended up being a letdown in so many aspects. A lot of plots are not ended in a satisfying and conclusive ways. Weirdly i found the pacing really slow but the story felt rushed somehow which makes me think that the final season is not focused on the important storylines of the show.
The ending gave me the impression that season 3 was only made because Netflix wanted to quickly moved on USA squid game and nothing else.
