Dancer in the Dark
Just as hot water stings more when your hands are freezing, this movie weaponizes the musical genre to maximize its emotional devastation. The contrast between happy, upbeat tunes and imagery to the bleakness of literally EVERYTHING else made me want to have therapy. Overall, I think this is a pretty sad movie.
