Bugonia
Holy Forking Shirtballs. That shit was intense.
I loved this movie so much. I just finished it and I feel anixous more than ever. I have so much thoughts about the ending. There's so much I adore and want to unpack from this movie.
First of all, the acting. Excuse me? No one can convince me that Jesse Plemons' wasn't on cr*ck while filming his character. Cause holy shit that was one hell of a performance. SERIOUSLY. That entire sequence, when he ran to inject antifreeze into his mom. Bye. His performance had me clenching my bootycheeks the entire time. Then the queen herself, Emma Stone. Love love love love love her acting here. Her delivery was perfect, it was so perfect to the point where I don't know if she is lying or not. Damn, she was convincing. There couldn't have been a pick. Also loved Aidan Delbis' acting, he portrayed Don very realistically, the way I could feel how uncomfortable he was the entire time he was running the bs torture operation with Teddy.
I fucking love the score. What the hell, every single time that one specific track plays, my ass clenches. I have yet to find out which song it is, but I will. And also I will be mentioning a lot of ass clenching, cause that was my genuine experience while watching Bugonia. Whoever made it, props to you babes, u flawlessly captured pressure, horror, anxiety, and intense at the same time.
Then the framing, I just love a Yorgos movie. The way it's shot, the wide shots, and the close ups are always at the right moment. The aspect ratio, it all feels very quirky and uncomfortable, but in a good way of course. I also love that they weren't afraid of making the actors look dirty. It makes the movie feel realistic. Then the visual effects. Everyone on Tiktok is hating the alien outfits in the ending, but I found it funny and satirical, and there were never actual proof of what aliens are supposed to look, so who's to say they don't look like humans wearing giant knitted blankets?
The representation of what human is like in reality. I loved them. My take at first, was that Teddy is just vulnerable, sick and broken person, frozen in time, who holds a grudge towards Michelle because of what her company did to his mother. Now that he is vulnerable and broken, the media conspiracies could get into his mind and mess with it. But, his way of coping is by making Michelle look like a villain who is hurting everyone else. I feel like that part represents how some humans cope with the shits they are dealing in life. They explicitly showed how huge corporations will do anything to be the richest or at the top, even if it means employees and people who they use as test subjects are suffering.
Ugh, theres so much more I wanna say, but I am sleepy as fuck.
Anyways, I loved the movie so much. SERIOUSLY. Nothing could've prepared me for that scene where Don... yknow'ed. Yorgos, trust me, i will one day be in your movie. Kaykay
