I really love how much more this was like the book like the I was a teenage werewolf movie and then the later scenes with Richie richie and the werewolf, or analogy to his sexuality, is like so important to me!!!!!! during their fears in the sewers, bills being the death of Georgie and Beverly being her father, and Richie’s being just the werewolf hands behind him. And then in the canteen scene, he comes screaming in about the werewolf and everyone laughs at him - he doesn’t hold onto the fear of the werewolf itself but the humiliation because of the werewolf, his sexuality, the scene afterwards where he’s just wide eyed in bed and the laughing, paired with pennywises laughter is very daunting. As it isn’t actually the werewolf he’s afraid of, in fact at the film he had been completely fine with the werewolf - while eddie was the one afraid, along with Beverly - the connotations following the werewolf is what’s important. I really wish they’d touched upon it in the 2017/19 films since they’d leant into Richie’s sexuality and actually mentioned it.
